COACH: Seminar set for city Wednesday

Michael Losier can’t hide that he’s a New Brunswicker.

Athough he hasn’t lived in the province for 16 years, his accent remains and his love of dulse hasn’t faded.

He’s coming home to Saint John this week to share with New Brunswickers some of what he’s learned while he’s been away.

Mr. Losier is the author of the book Law of Attraction and has taught thousands of people how to apply the law of attraction to their lives in order to attract positive experiences, make more money and find their perfect mate.

The book focuses on the principle that every person gives off vibes that attract either positive or negative people and situations.

Mr. Losier will give two seminars in the province this week on the law of attraction, one in Saint John Wednesday and one in Moncton.

Mr. Losier was raised in the Martinon area of Saint John, where he lived with his parents, Edith and Cedric Losier, until 1987, when he left New Brunswick to work in Toronto.

Prior to leaving, he attended classes in the business administration program at the New Brunswick Community College campus in Saint John, then worked at the Saint John shipyard in the information technology department before taking a job in Toronto.

After spending two years in Toronto, he accepted a one-month contract with the British Columbia government in 1989.
He’s still living in British Columbia.

The one-month contract turned into a position in human resources that led to a nine-year career.

Mr. Losier said he was a natural coach and confidant whom everyone he knew came to for advice.

It was in 1996, that he was first introduced to the law of attraction at a seminar in Seattle.

After the seminar, Mr. Losier began learning about the law of attraction and started meeting with other individuals who were interested in it.

There were three people, including Mr. Losier, from his workplace who met every Sunday to learn and apply the law of attraction to their lives.

The group soon grew to 21 people.

In 1998, Mr. Losier, who has a diploma in neuron linguistic programming (a counseling diploma), began a teleconferencing company in which he offers classes to people around the world on how to use the law of attraction to better themselves and their lives.

Mr. Losier said his passion is teaching.

“I love teaching people more about themselves.”

He said after he began teaching people about the law, a lot of people told him he should write a book.

So he did.

Law of Attraction was published in January.

He said the book has been a success.

“I had about a thousand people preorder the book even before it was printed.”

So far, 6,000 copies have been sold.

It has been the number one seller at Banyen Books in Vancouver for three months in a row.

It is soon to be published in the United Kingdom and Japan and Mr. Losier hopes it will be published in German and Spanish.

Although Mr. Losier feels at home in Victoria, BC, he misses things about home.

“I miss certain food. I miss Deluxe French fries. I miss donairs.”

He said he also misses the seafood, pantry cookies and Ganong chicken bones, which you can only get at specialty shops out west.

And, of course, he misses the dulse, which his sister sends him twice a year. He said he puts it in the freezer and treasures it
.
Mr. Losier said he has a garden on his balcony that he keeps year round and doesn’t own a winter jacket or a pair of mittens.

But he said he does miss some aspects of a Maritime winter.

“I do miss the snow and snowmobiling.”

He comes home to New Brunswick every two years.

While visiting back home, he enjoys spending time at his family’s cottage in Rexton.

But, he said Victoria reminds him of Saint John in a lot of ways.

It’s a port city that’s cool and foggy.

“It has a real Saint John feel to it.”

Mr. Losier’s Saint John seminar will be at the Saint John Public Library in Market Square from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. To register, call 652-1878.

The cost of the seminar is $49 per person in advance or $79 per person at the door.
